Getting Ahead™ and Circles® are a transformational approach to poverty that involves a partnership between volunteers, community leaders and families in need.
Circles® is based on a body of research suggesting that in order for families with low income to improve their situation, they must have bonding social capital within the community, bridging social capital to access the resources contained by higher income networks, and linking social capital that connects the first two with public institutions.
That said, the Circles campaign for Southwestern Indiana will be hosted by the Evansville Christian Life Center. Families will be selected by a process to take part in this campaign. The goal is to increase the emotional and financial stability of participating families while reducing their use of public service benefits and ultimately eliminate poverty in our community.
